As part of our educational journey in Turkey, we had the privilege of visiting the prestigious TEV İnanç Türkeş Özel Lisesi (Tevitöl) Boarding School in Gebze. This visit provided a unique opportunity to delve into the daily life and educational practices of a renowned Turkish institution while sharing our own experiences and perspectives.

Our day at Tevitöl began with a warm welcome from the school leadership, teachers, and students. After an introductory meeting, we had the chance to learn about the school’s educational philosophy, extracurricular activities, and daily routines. The students gave us an engaging overview of their lives at Tevitöl, discussing everything from their academic pursuits and student clubs to their plans for higher education.

Tevitöl is more than just a school; it’s a community where students are encouraged to grow academically, socially, and personally. Listening to their stories provided valuable insights into the unique challenges and opportunities of a boarding school environment.

A highlight of the visit was meeting the creator of the “Spiral Model,” a distinctive pedagogical approach implemented at the school. As a professor and advisor, their contributions have shaped the educational experience at Tevitöl, inspiring both teachers and students.

Our researchers also had in-depth discussions with the school’s history teachers, exchanging ideas and strategies that will enrich our ongoing research project on history education. These conversations underscored the importance of understanding diverse perspectives and methodologies in teaching history.

The visit wouldn’t have been complete without a taste of authentic Turkish hospitality. We were treated to a delicious Turkish lunch, which offered a moment of relaxation and cultural appreciation amidst our academic discussions.

Additionally, we observed several English-language classes, gaining insights into how Tevitöl integrates global competencies into its curriculum.

Our visit to Tevitöl was a testament to the power of collaboration and cultural exchange in education. The hospitality, openness, and shared commitment to excellence we experienced left a lasting impression.

We are deeply grateful to the school leadership, teachers, and students for their warm welcome and the wealth of experiences they shared. This visit not only deepened our understanding of Turkish education but also laid the groundwork for future collaborations.

Thank you, Tevitöl, for an unforgettable day! ?????
