Szombathely, the historic city where past and present meet, is where we held our spring academy this year.

We started the weekend with a Kick-off game on Friday evening, after everyone had successfully arrived in Szombathely. We played a get-to-know-you game and then a live national conquest game, separated into teams. In the game, the young people were asked historical questions and a few interesting historical facts.

Then, our junior researchers Boróka Iszály and András Máté, and our researcher Richárd Fodor, presented two exciting research projects, one is "Compass to History and Civic Education" - which examines historical thinking today, and the other is "Conservative case in education" - which examines traditional educational models. Through the mentoring program of our institute, students can even join one of our projects.

Exciting lectures and workshops awaited the participants at the MCC in Szombathely on Saturday. János Setényi's interactive lecture on "Learning in the 21st century" provided inspiration for those interested in modern learning methods. It was followed by a presentation by Joanna Williams, "Consuming Higher Education, Why Learning Can't Be Bought?" , which encouraged everyone to think about the real value of learning and not just see it as a commodity. After both lectures, during the coffee break, there was a lively discussion about the topic between the students and the instructors.

After lunch, in the afternoon, we visited the Savaria Museum, where the participants could learn about the city's rich history. After that, we took a pleasant walk in the historical part of the city, accompanied by an ice cream, to get to know the city.

In the evening, after dinner, our intern researchers held a quiz game for the students about what they saw in the Savaria museum and the history of the city. Smart tools and modern techniques could be used for the quiz game, which went so well that the game turned into an "Activity" at the end so that we could decide which team was the winner.

On Sunday morning, our colleague Zsófia Gali held an evaluation workshop, which gave the participants the opportunity to share their experiences and evaluate the program. Based on what the participants said, they really enjoyed the weekend and will be happy to join us at the autumn academy.

Thank You! See you in September!
