The invited guest of the discussion was Prof. Jong Hyun Wi, Dean and Professor of the Virtual Convergence College of Chung-Ang University, South Korea, President of the Korea Game Society, with whom Prof. Dr. Gábor Halász, Senior Research Director of the MCC Learning Research Institute, János Setényi, Director of the MCC Learning Research Institute and Richárd Fodor, Research Director of the MCC Learning Research Institute, discussed.
The exponential growth of the online gaming world and its emergence as a leading global industry were among the key issues raised. Professor Wi pointed out that, just as his Japanese developer colleagues in the 1990s did not understand the importance of designing games on an online platform alongside the existing paradigm, Stewe Jobs did not see that the new gaming platform, rather than just "free calling and messaging and browsing", would be the biggest market for Apple's pioneering product, the Iphone.
The game was described by the participants as the key to understanding Generation Z and Alpha, as the social differences between users and non-gamers appear in many ways.
Professor Wi briefly introduced the Virtual Convergence College at Chung-Ang University, which offers hybrid courses to its students. He highlighted the key messages of his book G-Learning: Making Learning Exciting through Games, which is based on gamification of learning. The difference between an evergreen and an addictive approach to motivation through games, his research and the spread of G-learning in five Asian countries and the United States.
He gave examples of platforms that preserve the learning and health and mental freshness of the older generation (silver generation), the emergence of artificial intelligence in non-user players (NPCs) of games and adaptive systems to the needs and level of the user, and the positive changes in learner performance.
