The delegation of the Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) Learning Research Institute visited Ankara between February 3 and 6, 2025, engaging in professional meetings, panel discussions, and cultural programs.

The visit focused on strengthening Hungarian-Turkish academic cooperation and exploring potential joint research initiatives.

Official Meetings and Academic Collaboration

During the visit, the delegation met with Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran, the rector of Hacettepe University, who introduced the university's academic programs and international collaborations. Discussions highlighted key areas for cooperation, including talent development, history education, and digital pedagogy. The Turkish side expressed interest in working together on migration studies and family policy research.

The delegation also visited the Presidential Library, where they observed advanced digital archive systems, and met with Deputy Minister of Education Ömer Faruk Yelkenci. The minister expressed keen interest in MCC’s educational programs and shared insights into Turkey’s new higher education strategy.

Panel Discussion: The Future of Education

On February 5, the delegation participated in a panel discussion at Hacettepe University titled "Future of Education: Opportunities and Challenges." The discussion addressed global and regional educational challenges, including teacher training, digital pedagogy, and the role of artificial intelligence in education.

Key contributions from the Hungarian delegation included:

János Setényi emphasized the strategic importance of talent development, noting that Europe’s competitiveness relies on innovative educational models.

Richárd Fodor presented MCC’s history education projects, particularly the Compass to History and Civic Education initiative, which examines differences in European and Asian history curricula.

Áron Fekete analyzed the role of AI in history education, discussing its advantages in enhancing critical thinking and access to historical sources while also addressing ethical and technical challenges.

Significance of the Visit

The four-day visit successfully deepened Hungarian-Turkish academic ties and opened new possibilities for joint research and educational projects. Both MCC and Hacettepe University expressed their commitment to continuing collaboration, particularly in talent development, history education, and digital pedagogy.
